Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ earned high marks for its undergraduate business, engineering and computer science programs in the 2021 Best Colleges rankings, released by U.S. News and World Report this week.

During their first in-person lab of the semester, Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ Medical Assisting Program students learned how to sterilize medical equipment. While most courses have shifted to alternate delivery this fall, in-person labs are still being offered for some fields in which hands-on learning is considered critical.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, limiting time on campus is critical to help prevent the virus' spread. Employees should only come to campus with supervisor approval. Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ is proud to celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month Sept. 15–Oct. 15. National Hispanic Heritage Month celebrates and recognizes the contributions Hispanic Americans have made to American society and culture and honors five of our Central American neighbors who celebrate their independence in mid-September.

Reminder: Face masks required in all university facilities and classrooms

As many of you are likely aware, Mayor Berkowitz recently signed Emergency Order EO-13 requiring masks or cloth face coverings be worn indoors in public settings or communal spaces outside the home. Since we have committed to remaining in Phase B and limiting on-campus activities through the fall semester, the implications of this emergency order are minimal for Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ. However, we will adhere to the order and have updated our policy guidance where necessary.

September is National Preparedness Month: Plan for a Disaster

The Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ Office of Emergency Management reminds you to plan for a disaster. Limit the impacts that disasters have on you and your family by knowing the risk of disasters in your area and check your insurance coverage. Learn how to make your home stronger in the face of storms and other common hazards and act fast if you receive a local warning or alert.

The Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ Diversity Action Council (DAC) is once again sponsoring the Student Diversity Awards, which are awarded to students who have significantly enhanced diversity on a Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ campus by increasing visibility of diverse people, cultures, and/or perspectives; creating a welcoming environment; and/or representing diverse student voices through advocacy and participation in Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ student organizations.

Gary J. Turner to retire from Kenai Peninsula College

KPC Director/CEO Gary J. Turner announced his retirement, effective Aug. 12, 2021. Turner brought more than 23 years of leadership, management, communication, university administration, and teaching when he assumed his position July 1, 2002. As Director/CEO he was responsible for KPC’s Kenai River Campus (Soldotna), Kachemak Bay Campus (Homer), Resurrection Bay Extension Site (Seward) and the Anchorage Extension Site.
