2020 Democracy & Civic Action Week runs Sept. 14-19

CCEL invites you to the third annual , Sept. 14-19, 2020.

Since 2018, Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ's has invited students, faculty, staff and community members to explore diverse perspectives about the role of democracy and civic engagement in the United States. This year's theme is Designing a Future for Democracy. Through a range of activities provided by departments, programs and organizations from across campus, presenters and participants are encouraged to learn from the past, to explore the issues of today and to imagine who we could be as a democratic society.

This year, has gone virtual. Join us for this week's events via Zoom:

  • Thursday, Sept. 17, 5-7 p.m. — Seawolf Debate: "The News Media Has a Duty to Take a Side in the 2020 Election."
  • Friday, Sept. 18, 4-5:30 p.m. — "SECURING DEMOCRACY: Addressing cybersecurity concerns around our elections," with Leon Jaimes, Founder and Principal Consultant, Sollievo IT.
  • Friday, Sept. 18, 6-7 p.m. — Democracy & Civic Action Keynote & Essay Awards.
