by Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ Incident Management Team  |

Dear Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ Community,

We are writing to inform you that we have been notified that a member of our contracted cleaning team tested positive after working in the Student Union on the Anchorage campus.

The individual last worked in the Student Union building on July 21, from 7 p.m.–1 a.m. Since finding out they were infected, this contracted employee has not been in the building and has been self-isolating. We ask that you please respect the privacy of this individual during this time.

Since the individual has not been in Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ facilities for nine days, there is little to no risk of contracting COVID-19 from a building surface at this time. However, to adhere to current guidelines, if you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, notify your supervisor and do not enter Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ facilities or come to campus until you have been tested and received a negative result.

To protect the health and safety of our campus community, we notified building occupants of exposed facilities and posted signage on the entry doors of the exposed building. This will be our normal procedure. We have also developed a running list of in Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ facilities along with exposure risk dates and timelines. The list is posted to the . To date, this was only the second confirmed case of COVID-19 on the Anchorage campus, and the first was communicated in mid-April.

As part of standard procedure, a contact tracing investigation is being conducted and anyone who has had exposure to this individual and may be at risk will be contacted. Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ has also been conducting regularly scheduled rigorous cleaning of all public areas, common touchpoints and building surfaces with CDC-approved products, including germicidal detergents. We have confirmed that the Student Union was cleaned daily since this employee was in the building.

Sincerely,
Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ Incident Management Team
