Professor Landry Sign茅 publishes articles on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and on China鈥檚 oil strategy in Africa

Political Science Professor Landry Sign茅 has recently published articles on the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals and on China's oil strategy in Africa.
The most recent publication is titled "Mobilizing Resources for Africa: Financing and Capacity-Building Strategies for Effective Delivery of the Sustainable Development Goals." , the policy paper aims to "provides a comprehensive strategy to help African and international decision-makers successfully mobilize financial resources and effectively build capacity for improved implementation of the post-2015 development agenda. It discusses the relevance and efficient use of a wide range of tools that can be adopted by development actors, depending on their specific context and goals. Actors evaluated include African countries and regional institutions, 'North-South' country cooperation, 'South-South' country cooperation, international financial institutions and key stakeholders such as the private sector, civil society organizations, research centers and think tanks."
The second paper was released in French by the bilingual, peer-reviewed journal and is titled "China's oil strategy in Africa: New dynamics and counteroffensive of Western and emerging countries." Co-authored with S茅v茅rin Tchokonte, the article can be summarized as follow: "China's oil strategy in Africa is an expression of the Chinese economy bulimic energy consumption, the high-energy potential of the African continent and the many benefits of its oil. To access African oil, China is deploying a comprehensive strategy based on political economic, diplomatic, military and cultural chessboard. But in the implementation of this power strategy, China faces stiff competition from the Western powers and other emerging countries and Japan, which does not intend to remain impassive to the Chinese breakthrough in Africa."
