The most recent issue of the AJSAC Fact Sheet presents data from the Alaska Violent Crimes Compensation Board (VCCB) on claims made and compensation granted to victims of violent crime for fiscal years 2004-14.

Phase 1 of the evaluation will focus on justice system cost savings as a result of this program.

KTVA Channel 11 News recently interviewed Professor Jason Brandeis, J.D., legal studies faculty in the Justice Center, about the pending U.S. Supreme Court case on same-sex marriage.

Professor Ryan Fortson, J.D., legal studies faculty in the Justice Center, is the state coordinator for the Alaska High School Mock Trial Competition. He was among numerous judges, lawyers and non-lawyers to volunteer for this year's event, held in Anchorage at the Boney Courthouse March 26-28. The annual competition is sponsored by the Young Lawyers Section of the Anchorage Bar Association and the Alaska Court System.

Lindsey Blumenstein, Ph.D., justice faculty, participated in the April 22 on-campus panel discussing the ABC 20/20 documentary "The Party's Over." The documentary, which aired January 2015, tells the true story of a sexual assault on the campus of Vanderbilt University and the impact of the incident on the victim, the perpetrators, their families, the university and the community.
