A shot of hope: Pharmacy students contribute to vaccination efforts

A Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ/ISU Doctor of Pharmacy student administers the COVID-19 vaccine to a healthcare worker.

Students from the Doctor of Pharmacy Program understand the personal and historical significance of vaccinating Alaskans against COVID-19. This has left them feeling grateful and excited after they administered hundreds of vaccine doses to senior citizens in recent weeks.

Early notice of townhome rental available for Fall Semester 2021

2 BR, 2.5 bath Townhome on trail system between downtown and Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ, convenient to everything! Bikes available for use, fully furnished, can be rented through Furnished Finders or by contacts given here. Available anytime after Aug 1 and until end of January. This is our home, and we are visiting with family on east coast for an extended period of time this year. Our dates can be flexible. The house includes a gas fireplace and our very special electric sauna on the back deck. Partial Mountain View and creekside as it is at end of development with a park up the street and close proximity to Chester Creek Trail leading to Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ or Coastal Trail and downtown. We have bicycles that you are welcome to use on the trail system. Hospitals are bike-able and walk-able from here. We have a small dog that travels with us, and the house is very clean. We would consider a pet request with a pet deposit. We keep our house very clean, and you would not know that a pet lives here.

I hope your spring 2021 semester is off to a great start. The Office of Environmental Health and Safety wishes to reiterate the processes and procedures in place to safeguard the well-being of our community from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. As you are likely aware, we have implemented a number of measures and support resources to help prevent the transmission of the virus and comply with guidance, recommendations and mandates from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and state and local governments.

Recommend students for Chancellor's MLK Student Appreciation Event

The Chancellor's Martin Luther King Jr. Student Appreciation program is an annual event celebrating the many contributions of students who make a difference at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ. It is an opportunity for the Chancellor to recognize the students you recommend and honor one of Dr. King's important messages: We, as individuals, can make a difference in the lives of others and our communities. Staff and faculty members recommend students who serve our campus community, both in the limelight and behind the scenes. Please honor those students by submitting their names for this recognition.

GSS digital calendars are available now

Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ General Support Services has for many years provided a complimentary wall calendar for staff and faculty, noting holidays and paydays. With so many employees working from home at this time, the logistics of distributing a printed calendar proved overwhelming so we required a different approach this year! GSS is providing a complimentary calendar but in a digital format. Multiple options have been created, including a printable version. The calendar is now available online from the GSS homepage at uaa.alaska.edu/gss.

CircleIn is now live at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ!

The Office of Student Success is sponsoring CircleIn at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ for the Spring 2021 semester. CircleIn is an app that allows students to study remotely with classmates, ask and answer questions about coursework, create flashcards to study for quizzes and exams, and post notes and share resources. Even better, the experience is gamified so students can earn gift cards and scholarships as rewards for engaging with the platform and helping their peers. Better together: Joint message with UAS and UAF chancellors

Chancellors Karen Carey at UAS, Dan White at UAF and I collaborated on the following message because we think this is an important time to focus on our collective future. In our joint effort to build a positive future for the University of Alaska, we seek to support President Pitney in her efforts in Juneau and our collective efforts to grow enrollment.

Alaska Sea Grant Request for Proposals — Announcement of Opportunity

A request for preliminary proposals is currently open for research to be conducted between February 2022 and January 2024. Alaska Sea Grant welcomes creative and innovative research proposals in the natural, social, and education sciences that address one or more of the following focus areas: Healthy Coastal Ecosystems; Sustainable Fisheries and Aquaculture; Resilient Communities and Economies; Environmental Literacy and Workforce Development.
